What is Plein Air painting?

"Plein Air" painters work out-of-doors on location to capture light effects and shapes that occur only
in nature. Painting like this gives the work a quality that is not achievable by any other ways of
painting. When looking at a Plein Air painting, the viewer can imagine themselves in the location.

Painting outdoors on a spring day.

Michael John Verlangieri

Professional Artist:

My work has been exhibited locally and internationally and is represented in many private and
corporate collections. The work I create is based on a definition of art that is sufficiently broad
to embrace any medium. My primary emphasis however, will always be on my creative involvement
with life and the development of myself as an individual artist.
